The pie graphs illustrate the age brackets of users across three given social media platforms namely Youtube, Twitter and Facebook in Australia in 2011.
Overall, Facebook accounted for the largest share of 18-34-year-old users, which was similarly for Youtube, the most dominant age category on Twitter was 35-49. Additionally, the oldest group constituted the smallest category in all platforms.
In terms of Facebook, 29% of people aged 18-34 made up for the primary users in Facebook. This was closely followed by users from 35 to 49 years old at 28%, two times as many as the figure for (50-64) people. Teenagers (10-17) represented 19%, whereas only 10% oldest people were registered, representing the lowest figure.
Regarding Youtube, the proportion of users aged from 18 to 34 took up for nearly one third of users, far below was 26% of 35-49 members. One in every five teenagers fascinated in using Youtube, nearly doubled the figure for oldest category. Lastly, 15% of people aged from 50 to 64 was reported at 15%.
Similarly, Twitter showed a clear dominance of the 35-49 age group, which reached 40%, which was the highest figure across all charts. This was followed by 29% for the 18-34 group and 18% for teenagers. By contrast, the older categories (50-64 and 65+) remained relatively minor, at 9% and 4%.
