The pie charts indicate the proportion of Australian users in different age brackets using three social media platforms in 2011.
Overall, Youtube was the most popular website among these people while the reverse was true for Twitter. Additionally, people aged 18-34 took the lead in the figure for social media users.
In terms of Facebook and Youtube, the 18-34 and 35-49 age groups occupied the largest proportion of individuals using social media. While nearly a third of the total figure for Facebook users was recorded in the former, the same value of the latter was seen in Youtube.
Regarding three groups of users using social media less frequently, the proportion of teenagers used Facebook (19%) and Youtube (20%) nearly double that of people aged 65 and over (10%). Meanwhile, the 50-64 age cohort maintained their third stance with an average of 15% in both platforms. Twitter was the least popular one among these individuals as only 18% was recorded for teenagers, 9% for the 50-64 age group and 4% for the elderly over 65 years old.
