The pie charts show how a college budget was appointed at ten year intervals between 1990 and 2010. Overall, the largest expense was for the staff, and technology and insurance spending has increased consistently while spending on other resources has declined.
In terms of human resources, the majority of college budget was spent for salaries. In particular, teacher’s income dominated in all categories increasing initially from 40% in 2000 to 50% in 2010, before dropping to 45% in 2010. In contrast, other worker’s salaries experinced a significant fall from 28% in 2000 to 15% in 2010.
With other expenses, in 1990, as much budget was spent on furniture and equipent as on books. Although books spending grew by 5% in 2000, the budget for furniture fell sharply to 2% in 2010, and, in 2010, it remained as the lowest category with only 3%. By the same year, book spending had fallen to 9%, almlst half of its initial level. Notably, insurance and technology were the lowest costs in 1990, with only 2% and 1% respectively. After which, both of them rose in each decade, and the biggest increase occured in 2010, when insurance reached 8%, and technology 20%. Interestingly, in the final decade, larger proportion of budget was spent on technology than books.
