The pie charts compare the condition of mode transport used by women to work in major US towns in 1999 and 2009. Overall, in both years, metro was the most favourable mode of transport around one-fifth of the population while car sharing was the least used below 5%.
In comparison, in 2009 more females were walking, taking a bike, and sharing a car as their mode of transport to work. In each detailed mode from 1999 to 2009, bycicle jumped almost double from 6% to 11%, car sharing from 2% to 4%, and walking from 14% to 17%.
On the otherhand, mass transporters such as metro and bus as well as private car experienced a slight decrease in their respective proportions. For instance, metro decreased from 22% to 20%, private car from 18% to 15%, and bus dropped significantly from 21% to 15%. Lastly, the ratio of train users remained the same at 17% in both years.
