The pie charts illustrate the proportion of five different types of energy consumption, which are coal, gas, petrol, solar, and other sources, in the UK in 2000 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that the two most significant energy consumed by the UK are coal and gas, while solar energy and other sources accounted for the least. In addition, while petrol energy experienced notable decline, solar power and other sources increased considerably.
In 2000, coal was the highest energy consumption with 30% of the total energy. In 2010, coal remained the most consumed energy, increasing slightly to 31% after a decade. Similarly, gas was the second most consumed energy in both years, rising from 29.5% to 30% in 2010.
In contrast, petrol declined dramatically by 9%, ending up with 20%. Furthermore, solar energy and other sources were the lowest energy consumption, growing from 6.5% and 5% to 10% and 9%, respectively.
