The two pie charts illustrates the changes in the percantage of housing owned and rented in the UK. The figures provided in the pie charts are for the years 1991 and 2007. The diagrams are further segmented into four types of housing
It is evident that the total number of homes have grown from 22 million in 1991 to 27 million home by the year of 2007. It is obvious that UK home owners have increased at a stready pace over the years from 60% in 1991 to 70% by 2007. On the other hand, renting houses has been segmented into both social and private renting.
However, both combined , the percentage of renting house has faced a minor decline despite the percentage of private renting remaining at a stagnant 11%. The fall from 23% in 1991 to 17% by 2007 was largely absorbed by those percentage of UK’s population who socially rented the homes.Furthermore, the minority of UK’s population were those of who benefited from social house. The numbers drastically dropped from 6% in 1991 to 2% in 2007.
In summary, the UK experienced the only percentage of increase in those who owned their homes whilst renting overall decline within the country by 2007 followed by a fall in the numbers of those living under social housing.
