The pie charts illustrate the amount of time employed adults spent on five different cathegories of activities (working, relaxing at home, sleeping, travelling to work, going out and other interests or playing sports), in 1959 and 2008, in a certain country. Datas are expressed using percentages.
Overall, in both years the major percentage of time is spent working, however, whereas in 1958, the value was similar to the sleeping time, in 2008, the percentage of people spending their time working has increased from 33% to 42%. Following, the time spent sleeping has decreased from 32% to 25%. Moreover, there has been a drastical reduce in time spent going out with family and friends, which went from 19% to 6% in 2008. Lastly, time spent relaxing at home had gained importance, also due to the fact that travelling to work had become more time-consuming.
In 1959, the time travelling to work was only 2%, while people spent 8% of it relaxing at home, 19% going out with friends or family and 6% doing other activities or playing sports. The majority of time was spent working, precisely 33% of it, followed by sleeping (32%).
In 2008, work still was a priority for adults, reaching a 42% value, followed by sleeping and time dedicated to relaxing at home. The graph shows similar percentages regarding the time spent going to work or for other activities.
