Overall, the dominant source of UK tax revenue was the income tax. The tax revenue was used by the government to invest mostly in pensions. The council taxe, business rates and fuel duty represent the least amount of taxe revenue which shows only little expenses by the government
Firstly, the sources that represents a dramatic proportion of the tax revenue is income taxe, national insurance and value added tax with 28%, 21% and 17%. These 3 sources reserve around 75% which is around three quarters the total taxe revenue. The UK tax revenue is spent by the government in mostly pensions with 20%, health care, welfare Moreover, these three expenses by the government embody slightly more than half of the spendings by the governement.
Secondly, the sources that represents little proportion of taxe revenue are numerous. There is the council tax, the business rates and fuel duty which all represent a fifth of the taxe revenue. This leads to a small amount of spendings by the governement in terms of general governement with 3% and protection with 5%.
