The pie charts compare the percentage of desktop browsers in the years 2019 and 2021. Overall, Chrome was the most significant desktop browser in both years. However, it experienced a notable decline, while the figures for other browsers also dipped, except for Edge and Safari.
In 2019, the leading desktop browser was Chrome, which held a 69% market share. Although Chrome decreased by 2%, it still maintained its first-place position with 67% in 2021. Meanwhile, Firefox saw a decrease from 9% to 8% in 2021, thereby losing its position to Edge, which became the third-highest browser with a rise from 5% to 9%. Edge had the smallest share in 2019 but grew significantly over the two years.
The remaining three competitors together accounted for only a tenth of the total market share in 2019. Chrome stands out from all these browsers, as it had a substantial 69% share that year and continued to lead in 2021. In general, all other browsers experienced a decline of 2% in 2021.
