It is clear that the highest percentage of tourists visited theme parks. By contrast, the percentage of visitors who visited museums and galleries was lowest in the UK in the given years.
On the one hand, there was an increase in the percentage of people who visited theme parks from 32% to 37% in the years 1981 and 1999. Similarly, the proportion of visitors who visited wildlife parks and zoos increased from 4% in 1981 to 9% in 1999, a rise of 5% over the period of 18 years.
On the other hand, the UK saw a decrease of 10% in the percentage of tourists who visited museums and galleries, from 48% to 38% between 1981 and 1999. However, in 1981, 16% of tourists visited historic houses and monuments, and it remained the same percentage in the year of 1999.
