The chart illustrates the information about the proportion of people from different age groups who use social media such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Overall, the percentage of people in 35-49 age set and 18-34 age category exhibited much bigger figures compared to that of other age groups on all apps. While the figure for the oldest age bracket was the lowest among all age categories, that of people between 50 and 64 had similar figures in all apps.
Looking at the details, individuals belonging to the 35-49 and 18-34 age groups used social apps more than others. The proportion of people between the ages of 35 and 49 on Facebook was 30%. YouTube and Twitter followed closely at 29% for this age group. Unlike the previous age category, the 18-34 age group uses Twitter much more than others, which its proportion was 40%. This age bracket was the second user on Facebook and YouTube, at the former 29% and the latter 26%. As for the 50-64 age category, the figure was higher on YouTube, at 20% and then it was nearly identical on Facebook and Twitter, ranging between 18% and 19%.
In contrast, the oldest and the youngest age groups showed smaller figures on social media. The percentage of those from 10-17 age bracket was 14% on Facebook and a little difference with on YouTube, at 15%. But it was much lower on Twitter that was 9%. As regards 65+ age category, the percentage was 4% on Twitter and 10% on YouTube, reflecting a difference of 6% and on Facebook, that was 8%.
