Overall, while sedans remained the most sold car, SUVs represented the lowest percentage of sales in three years. Notably,the sales of SUVs saw similar shares in 2004 and 2013 during April.
Focusing on others and SUVs, in April 1994, the figure for the sales of other new cars stood at 19% of 42,900 in 1994, and then it experienced further rises in 2004 and 2013 in the same month, with respective figures amounting to 21% and 32%. Starting at 7% in 1994, the percentage of SUVs sold increased markedly to 17% of 71,000 in April 2004, whereas it remained unchanged nine years later.
As for sedans, although sedans had by far the highest proportion of sales among their counterparts across three years, it decreased constantly in April of 2004 and 2013. In the first year in question, the figure for sedans started at 74%, but it then experienced constant dips, falling from 62% of 71,000 in 2004 to 51% of 85,000 in the final year.
