Overall, motivations for immigration were mainly related to work, studies, and accompanying someone, with no reasons stated and other less typical. Similarly, the emigration reasons focused mostly on work, though less defined and less likely reasons were more common.
In terms of immigration, just under one-third was connected to definite job, while 12% of individuals were moving to the UK to find work. 26% and 15% related to study and joining purposes respectively. Just over one-tenth of immigrants had less typical motives, and the other 6% were not stated.
While a similar percentage of people emigrated from the UK for definite job, the following trend was concentrated on looking for work. 14% of people emigrating for other reasons, comparable to 13% for joining someone. 18% of emigrants had no reason stated and the less common (4%) was related to formal study.
