Overall, the area has seen significant development. In 2000, the harbor was used by private yachts and fishing boats, with two docks available for passenger ferries. There was a single car park, a set of showers and toilets and a lifeboat station positioned along the road leading to a public beach. To the right of the public beach was located a disused castle which was accessible via the main road.
Nowadays, the harbor area has been upgraded. An additional car park and a new set of showers and toilets have been constructed next to the original amenities. The area previously was occupied solely by fishing boats, now also includes private yachts. A section of cafes and shops has been added near the marina and along the road.
In the area where the castle was once disused, a hotel has been built, along with a private beach designated specifically for hotel guests. The public beach remains in the same place as before, ensuring continued access for general visitors.
In summary, Porth Harbour has transformed from a simple harbor area into a more developed, visitor-friendly location with additional recreational facilities, improved infrastructure and increased space for both private and commercial boating activities.
