The plans illustrate the changes that have taken place in Porth Harbour between 2000 and the present day.
Overall, the harbour has undergone considerable redevelopment. It has become more modern and tourist-oriented, with the addition of new facilities, while some older features have been removed or replaced.
In 2000, the western side of the harbour contained a car park, public toilets and a small number of fishing-related facilities. Today, although the car park and toilets remain, several new developments have been introduced. These include a café, shops and a larger marina with improved parking facilities for boats.
Significant changes have also been made along the waterfront. Previously, the harbour mainly accommodated fishing boats and basic mooring areas. In contrast, the present layout features a dedicated passenger ferry, upgraded piers and additional leisure boats. Furthermore, an island that was formerly unused has been developed, and a hotel has been constructed, enhancing the area’s appeal to visitors.
