The maps illustrate changes taken place in Grange park from the past to present. Overall, this public park underwent a dramatic transformation with the addition of recreational amenities catering for wider range of ages as well as the renovation of performing areas.
The center of this avenue saw a remarkable change with the demolition of a fountain to make room for an enormous rose garden surrounded by customers’ seats, whereas the entrance remained unchanged at the top and bottom of the diagrams. To the left of the previous fountain, while the stage in 1920 was extended and advanced into an amphitheater with the removal of seats behind it, the two rose gardens separated by the performing place witnessed the disappearance of one at the bottom.
Looking at the left side of the maps, the rose garden located at the top left was repurposed into a cafeteria, which was accompanied by the pond for plants on the left corner replaced by a children’s playground. Finally, a glasshouse and seats were constructed on the right bottom in 1920, but both were then flattened to make way for a larger water feature and another entrance of the underground parking lot.
