The maps illustrate how Benchwood Farm has changed since 1950. Overall, the farm has experienced significant changes by adding car-parking and energy production facilities. However, some areas have remained unchanged over the given period.
In 1950, the farm had a relatively simple layout. There was a road and a river, intersecting at the western side of the farm. There were three central areas: fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables. On top that areas, there was a track, going east from the road. Between track and river, there were a barn, a farmhouse , and a chickens areas to the southeast. In addition, a sheep, biggest area in the farm, located to the northeast.
By now, the farm has changed substantially, becoming more recreational. The sheep ha been removed, and a camping field and a solar panels have introduced. There are two parking fields, located in camping field and solar panels areas. Into the fruit trees field, a farm shop has added. The track has been converted into a road. Moreover, after repositioning the barn to the south, a holiday cottages has been built to this area. Despite these changes, some original features such as three central fields, farmhouse and chickens, and river and western road have remained intact.
