The two maps illustrate how the layout of Beechwood Farm has changed over the past seventy years.
Overall, it is evident that the area has shifted from a purely agricultural site to a more commercial-oriented region. Notable changes include the introduction of a new camping field, holiday cottages, parking sites, and solar panels, as well as the incomplete elimination of farming activities.
Looking at these maps more closely, one can see that to the south of the track, the zones used for different growing purposes, including fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables, are kept nearly the same and remain next to the river. However, after 75 years, a new farm shop has been constructed on the fruit trees’ site, located in the eastern part of the area. Additionally, no changes have been made to the farmhouse and the chicken section, while a new barn has been built adjacent to these structures. By contrast, the large barn, which was located near the track, was demolished and replaced with a range of holiday cottages for accommodation.
As demonstrated by two plans, it is apparent that to the north of the road, the area initially used for sheep grazing has been replaced by a camping field, with two main parking areas that can be accessed directly via the main road. Moreover, a region designated for solar panels was introduced in the northeastern part of the area, reflecting a shift toward sustainability and tourism.
