The maps illustrate the differences between Beechwood farm in 1950 and its developments today.
Overall, there have been a lot of changes in the farm throughout the period. Beechwood farm has been transformed from a purely agricultural site into a multi-functional farm featuring farming, tourism and renewable energy facilities.
Firstly, the most noticeable change has happened in the largest area for sheep farming and the track leading into the farm. In 1950, the majority of the farm was used for animal husbandry, sheep in particular; but the land now is divided into halves for completely different purposes. To be specific, the first half located in the northeast is constructed into an area covered with solar panels, while the other becomes a camping field which looks right at the main road. Besides, there are two parking lots in each of those locations. Moreover, the old track is now replaced by a new road, which is cleaner and more modern for tourism purposes.
Secondly, there were also some small developments on the opposite side of the road. Whereas most things have been kept originally, such as areas for fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables, a farm shop was later built nearby the main road. In the centre, there is a two-turn road which looks similar to a triangle in the map, a small barn is located there in the end of the left direction road, while there was no special location there in the past. Additionally, in 1950, there was a much bigger barn constructed opposite the parking lot in the energy area;
