The two maps illustrate how the South Wing of Walton Museum was transformed in 2008 and 2012.
Overall, the building underwent substantial redevelopment, with a significant expansion of its facilities across each floor. The most significant change involves the addition of a restaurant, a self-service room and a lift.
In 2008, the museum occupied a relatively compact area, with a special exhibition room,a shop and a cloak room on the ground floor. The reception and a reading room were situated above, connected with stairs, while the access to the building was provided by the path.
By 2012, the building had been expanded vertically, with a lift installed to connect four levels. The special exhibition room, shop and the reading remained in their original positions, while the children room was relocated, with a children play area beneath it and two additional rooms above it. Similarly, the restaurant, entrance hall and terrace were added, while the reception room and cloaks room were combined.
