The given maps compare the layout of the south wing as it looked in 2008, and the layout in 2012.
Overall, the south wing has undergone a comprehensive redevelopment. These changes include the entrance hall, self-service room, children play area and other significant developments.
In 2008,the south section was underdeveloped and lacked entertainment facilities. The building was divided into five sections. A special exhibition room was located on the west side. A reception area was occupied in the north west, adjacent to the reading room. In the south, there was a shop and cloak room, and stairs were between these two sections.
In 2012, the south wing was completely transformed into a more accessible and modernized space. The entrance and path remained intact. The building was enlarged and separated into ten sections. In the first block in the west, a terrace, entrance hall, and a special exhibition room were built sequentially. In the second block, the restaurant and shop remain intact, but reception combined with the clock room into a single “reception-clock room”. In the house-shaped building, stairs were replaced by a lift. On the eastern side, a self-service room was introduced north of the reading room. Other alterations include a new children play area and additional exhibition room.
