The plans depict the transformation of the South Wing of Walton Museum from 2008 to 2012.
Overall, it can be seen that the South Wing became more modern. Some infrastructures were changed function and added with more rooms.
From 2008 to 2012, there were 3 blocks remained. On the first block, while the special exhibiton room stayed unchanged, the entrance above it was transformed into an entrance hall. The terrace on the third floor was newly built. To the right of the first block, the shop on the bottom were remained. Meanwhile, the reception room on the second floor then took on the added function, the restaurant was constructed above it.
The final block was added two floors. The cloak room was replaced with the children’s play area whereas the reading room stayed unchanged. The added floor was used for self- service and exhibiton rooms. The staircase was positioned between the other two rows, which was converted into a lift. Combining with the right and left side, the triangle-shaped was constructed.
