The given graphic illustrates the layout of a landfill used for household waste.
Overall, this man-made process involves three main stage, from constructing and using to closing the landfill. This can be achieved by digging, installing as well as facilities and compounds, and filling.
To begin with, the first stage is digging a hole in a trapezoidal shape, which depth reaches the natural rock layer. This is followed by the placement of synthetic substance surrounded by a clay layer. Simultaneously, there are also installations of drainage pipes in the bottom of the hole and the excavation of drainage tank under it, at the central of the hole, specifically.
After fully built, the landfill is filled with household rubbish, separating with liquid form of waste as it flows to the tank. Once the waste turn into a mud form, another layer of clay is applied above waste while emitted gasses from this site are vented away.
