The given table illustrates the sources for the police budget, while the two pie charts give a comparison of how money was distributed in a specific area in Britain between 2017 and 2018.
From an overall perspective, it is evident that there was an upward trend in all sources, with the largest amount being the money from the national government. In addition, money paid for salaries accounted for the largest proportion over the given period.
The national government made up the most significant part of the total figure in terms of sources, with £175.5m in 2017 and £177.8m in 2018. The second highest was local taxes, with £91.2m and £102.3m in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Meanwhile, other sources such as grants were the lowest category, standing around £38m over the two years.
Concerning how the money was used, it is obvious that three-quarters of the sum was spent on salaries for officers and staff in 2017. This figure then dropped by 6% a year later. While the expense for buildings and transport remained unchanged at 17%, that of technology witnessed a slight increase from 8% to 14% within two years.
