The table gives information about the funding sources for the police budget, while the pie charts describe how it was allocated, both between 2017 and 2018 in one part of Great Britain.
It is noticeable that total budget spending on police increased moderately from 2017 to 2018, with the highest source of funding provided by the national government. Meanwhile, the majority of the money is consumed by police salaries.
Upon a closer look at the sources, in 2017, the police had a total budget of 304.7 million pounds, which climbed minimally to 318.6 million pounds in 2018. More specifically, the national government remained the largest contributor, at 175.5m in 2017, slightly below the figure for the following year (177.8m). while the amount of local tax donations was slightly lower throughout the period, it rose gradually by over 11 million compared to last year, reaching 102.3 million. In contrast, the quantity of other sources remained almost unchanged, at around 38 m.
Correspondingly, according to the pie chart information, the proportion of expenditure spending on officer and staff salaries declined slightly from 75% to 69%, but this figure remained the highest. On the other hand, spending on technology witnessed a revered trend, surging enormously to 14% in 2018, which doubled compared to the previous year. While, funding for buildings and transport was unaltered at 17% in each year surveyed, making it the least proportionate expenditure.
