The table gives the informations about the amount of money that the UK spent on importing fish in 1990, 1995 and 2000. While the pie charts below illustrate the original places of these fish.
Over the ten years, the UK seemed to spend an increasing amount of money in importing fish, most of which came from Canada and Japan.
According to the table, there was a growing trend in the total value of fish importing, and it was more noticeable in the later 5 years. The amount of money spent in 1995 was 7.05 billion pounds, in excess of about only 0.5 billion pounds compared with 1990. However, in 2000, the number surged to 10.5, increasing by about 3.5 billion pounds, and it was almost twice than that in 1990.
Although the UK mainly imported fish from Canada and Japan, the total proportion of these two countries saw a slightly drop over the ten years. For Canada, its proportion decreased to less than a quarter of the total value in 2000. Conversely, the percentage of Japan rose, and in 2000, it was almost equal to that of Canada in 1990.
