The information shows the shares of male and female smokers between 15 and 20 years old in Britain.
Owerall, the table illustrates the proportion of both groups of young people these years who smoked from 1970 to 2000.
First of all, in 1970, the percentage of males was 10%, whereas the share of females was doubles less. However, next years the total number of smokers increased in the both groups until 1985 for males and until 1990 for females with 36% and 37% respectively. Also the peak of smoked females surpassed the highest point of males for the represented period of time.
Secondly, since 1985 and 1990 for males and females accordingly, the persentage of smokers decreased for people between 15 and 20 ages in Britain. The amount of people who had this negative addiction in 2000 was slightly above quater of the total number in both groups with 28% of males and 27% of females, but significantly more than in 1970.
