Overall, it can be seen that car remained the most popular mode of travel, while taxi was the least preferred means of travel in both years. Another noticeable trend is that the overall distance travelled by all modes expanded significantly.
In 1985, a car accounted for 3,199 miles, compared with 4,806 miles in 2000, showing the most highest share. Other types of transport was the second popular in both years, with 450 miles and 585 miles, respectively. In 1985, long-distance buses and walking covered nearly the same distances, with 289 and 255 miles respectively, whereas in 2000 these stood at 366 and 237 miles.
On the other hand, bicycle and taxi recorded the smallest distances, made up 51 and 13 miles in 1985, and accounted for 41 and 42 miles, respectively. Moreover, the total distance was 4,740 miles in the first year, compared with 6,475 miles in the second.
