Overall, almost every mode of travel has increased its average distance, except for those traveled by walking, bicycle, and local bus. Cars have the highest average distance travelled per person per year, whereas the lowest is by taxi. The average distance per person in 2006 is higher than in 2001.
In 2001, cars began at 3199 miles, while travelers using trains or walking had nearly 250 miles. Besides, the average distance of travelling by bicycle and local bus was 51 miles and 54 miles, respectively.
On the other hand, the distance traveled by car increased by 1607 miles, and the average usual distance of train increased by 127 miles in 2006, while those walking decreased their average distance by 18 miles. In addition, bicyclists decreased their average distance to 41 miles in 2006. However, people who traveled in local distance buses increased their average distance to 124 miles.
