The table illustrates the distance covered by citizens in Netherland using different trasportation methods in 2001 and 2006. As shown in the table, people in 2001 used to depend mostly on walking and local buses. However, people in 2006 mostly depend on cars, local distance buses and taxis.
The table show that the average of miles traveled per person per year in 2001 is so much lower than what used to be in 2006, this shows that cities used to be smaller than what is it nowadays. Local distance buses and taxis had a significant increase in 2006 from the number of 67 miles per person per year to 166 miles. In addition, cars and trains had took a sharp rise in 2006 from about 3400 miles to 5300 miles. On the other hand; walking and cycling had slightly decreased from about 300 miles to 270 miles. Moreover, local buses signicantly fallen from about 430 miles to 275 miles.
In conclusion, citizens nowadays are consuming their time more using faster transportation systems. The extinction of the cities plays an important role in the transportation methods.
