The table below illustrates the percentage of students in six departments at an Australia university in 2009
Overall, the English, Modern Languages and History departments had the higher proportion of femele students, while the Chemistry and Physics recorded the much lower rate.From an international factor, the Modern languages had the highest percentage of students, whose first laguage were not English and born outside Australian, while the History departments had the lowest proportion.
Regarding gender, in six faculties, the English had the highest proportion of female enrollment at 67% , followed by the Modern languages with 63% and the History with 58%.In contrast, the Chemstry and Physics departments observed the lowest percentages, with 29% and 37%, respectively.
In terms of the mother tongue language, the Modern languages registed the highest proportions of non-native English speaking students (at 41%), while the History department had the lowest percentage with only 10%. The departments such as Physics, Math and Chemistry also had a retively high percentage of sudents, fluctated from 32% to 38%.
Turning to national students, the Modern languages faculty continued remarkably with 54% students born in oversea.The Chemistry department also showed the fairly high proportion with 47%, followed by the Physics (44%) and Math (43%). In six departments, the History had the least enrollment of international students, just 18%.
