The table shows the average monthly household spending in 2024 in Japan, USA, Spain, and Brazil.
Overall, people in every country considered spent more on housing and food supplies than for transport and leisure. The households that spent more considering every sector were in Japan and in USA, while in Spain and in Brazil people spent a lower percentage.
In both Japan and USA, the highest cost for people was housing, representing 30% and 38% of total expenses respectively. In contrast, in Brazil people spent 10% less for housing compared to Japan, and 5% less than Spain, where the housing costs were 25% of the total. Spanish and Brazilian households spent more on food, with 27% and 32%, compared to only 15% in USA and 22% in Japan. Leisure was the sector where every household researched spent less, with the highest percentage was the spanish’s 15%. Interestingly, households in Spain prefferred to spent their money on leisure activities than in transports, that covers only 10% of expenditure and it is the lowest percentage of every nation.
