The table provides information about total population and its rise, density, land area and the percentage of population that lives in urban areas comparing China, India and the USA in 2018.
Looking from an overall perspective, it can be seen that China is country with the largest population rate, while in India population growth and density are the highest compared to other countries. In addition, despite the fact that the USA had the smallest population number, this country had the largest percentage of urban citizens.
In 2018, China was the leader in population’s rate, reaching 1,415 billion people, however India’s population was approximately 100 people lower (1,354 billion), the USA’s population was noticeably lower, only 327 million people. Nevertheless, the USA was leader in another sector called urban population, 83% of the whole population lived in urban areas, whereas this percentage in China was around 20% lower (58%) and in India already 50% lower (32%). Besides this, India had also a leader position but in the number of people per square kilometre (455), the remaining countries lagged far behind India in this category, in China in was 151, while in the USA only 36.
Regarding population increase and land area there was a large difference between India and other two countries. While the index of land area in China and the USA was approximately the same (9,388 million and 9,147 million) India had a strong difference having only 2,973 million square kilometers which is 6 million lower. On the other hand, population increase in India since 2017 was +1.11% , whereas in the USA it was +0.71% and in China only +0.39%
