The table shows the top five exports of the USA in 2021 and their annual percentage change in 2020, while the bar chart illustrates the percentage of USA exports sent to the UK between 2010 and 2020.
Overall, electric vehicles were the most valuable export product, whereas petroleum had the lowest value. In addition, most export categories decreased in 2020, except medication. It is also clear that the proportion of exports sent to the UK declined steadily over the period.
According to the table, electric vehicles ranked first with an export value of $28 billion, despite a sharp fall of 40% in 2020. Gold and jets were worth $20.1 billion and $20.5 billion respectively, and both experienced declines of 10% and 25%. Medication generated $19.1 billion and was the only product to increase, rising by 1.5%. Petroleum was the least valuable export at $17 billion, after a decrease of 32%.
Turning to the bar chart, around 60% of USA exports were sent to the UK in 2010. This figure fell gradually to approximately 55% in 2012 and 52% in 2014. The downward trend continued in the following years, reaching about 48% in 2016 and 43% in 2018. By 2020, the percentage had dropped further to around 41%, which was the lowest point shown on the chart.
