The table shows information on household spending different items – food, drinks and tobacco, clothing, footwear and home accessories, leisure and education – in five various countries in 2004. Units are measured in percentages. Overall, the percentage of household expenditure by food, drinks and tobacco in Turkey was a main consumer across other countries, whereas the share of leisure and education in Portugal was the smallest proportion in 2004. Notably, Italy experienced the highest distribution among clothing, footwear and home accessories expenditure category.
The percentage of food, drinks and tobacco in Turkey was the largest expenditure. Its amount stood at 32.10% in 2004, and Ireland experienced 28.90%, which was a second dominant country. In addition, the distribution of clothing, footwear and home accessories spending in Turkey account for 6.60%, and Ireland constituted 6.40%. The share of leisure and education expenditure in Turkey and Ireland comprised 4.40% and 2.20%, respectively.
In terms of the expenses in Portugal, food, drinks and tobacco made up 18.0%, in comparison with Italy, its share had around 16.40%. Moreover, the distribution for clothing, footwear and home accessories in Portugal and Italy represented 9.0% and 6.60%, alternatively by 2004. Leisure and education spendings in Portugal experienced 2.50%, in Italy 3.20%.
Finland was the least prevalent country among other countries. The percentage of food, drinks and tobacco showed 15.80%, other expenditures (clothing, footwear home accessories, and leisure and education) saw 5.40% and 3.20%, respectively.
