The table shows data on household expenditure on different items in 2004 in five different countries (Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Finland, and Turkey). Overall, it can be seen that Turkey had the highest percentage of household spending by category (food, drinks, and tobacco) and by category (leisure and education). Whereas Italy had the biggest proportion by category (clothing, footwear, and home accessories).
In detail, Turkey accounted for 32.10% of household expenditure by category (food, drinks, etc), and Ireland recorded 28.90% by the same items. Also, Portugal, Italy, and Finland accounted for 18,00%, 16,40%, 15,80% respectively.
However, Italy recorded at 9,00% of household expenditure by category (clothing, etc), but both Portugal and Turkey accounted for 6,60 per cent in that category. Meanwhile, Ireland and Finland recorded at 6,40% and 5,40% respectively. In the last category (leisure and education), Turkey accounted for 4,40%, followed by both Italy and Finland with 3,20%, then Portugal with 2,50%.
