In 1971, households with no cars declined considerably, similar to the trend of owning two cars but in reverse. It dropped from 49 percent to 25 percent due to the increase in households owning more than one car. In addition, the one-car household rate oscillated gradually between 1971 and 1991, then stayed constant at 44 percent for five years. After that, it fluctuated again until 2007, when it stood at 43 percent, showing no significant change.
