The table compares the proportion of tax which was collected by five different countries for 4 years from 1975 to 2005.
Overall, there was a marked increase in the amount of tax revenue in Sweden, Japan and the USA, while those figures for two other countries saw a fluctuation. Notably, it is clear that Sweden was the country with the highest tax collection compared to the others.
In 1975, 46% tax was collected by Sweden and then this figure rose from 47% to 51% between 1985 and 1995. Ten years later, this is followed by a sharply increase to 70.1%, which was almost double than other countries. Similarly, the amount of tax intake in the USA rose slightly from 25.1% to 27.4% during 30-year period while revenue from taxes in Japan jumped at 32.1% to ranked second in 2005.
Meanwhile, after falling from 16.4% to 15% during ten years, the amount of tax revenue in Turkey went up by 12.4% matching the share of the USA in 2005. Lastly, Korea’s tax intake rose to 27% before decreasing to 26% in 1995 then increased to 27.3%.
