The table illustrates the percentage of tax collected in five different countries over a 4-year period from 1975 to 2005.
Overall, there were growths in three nations, namely Sweden, USA and Japan while a fluctuation was seen in Korea and Turkey. It is also noticeable that Sweden accounted for the highest tax collected, with Korea spending the lowest.
Regarding the three countries with an upward trend, Sweden was the country with the highest proportion, with 46% in 1975 and then increased to 70,1% in 2005. Following closely behind, the amount of tax collected in Japan was witnessed the lowest in 1975, standing at 15% before rising to 32,1% in 2005, making it the second position. Meanwhile, a slight growth was seen in the USA, rising from 25,1% in 1975 to 27,4% at the end of the period.
In terms of other countries with fluctuations, 16,4% of tax collected in Turkey in 1975 declined to 15% in 1985 which later grew to 27,4% in 2005. A similar pattern was experienced in Korea, starting at 15,1% in 1975. The figure for tax collected in Korea went up 27% a decade later and then decreased to 26% in 1995 before increasing to 27,3% in 2005.
