The table shows the number of citizens (in millions) using five different public transportation in Milan during four years since 2010.
Overall, the general trend was for the usage of public conveyance to elevate throughout the time scale. In addition, the metro was superior whereas taxis accounted for the smallest proportion of public transport used throughout the four-year period.
Over the period, the figures of the metro experienced an increase in transport usage, rising by 2 users from 3.0 in 2010 to 5.0 in 2014 – the largest number shown on the table. Following this, trains also saw a greater incline from 1.4 to 3.6 at the end of period.
Compared to other public transport, there was an upward trend in the number of tram and bus users which nearly doubled by 2.2 and 2.4 respectively. Although there was a slight dip in the figure of bus in 2011 before recovering in 2012. Lastly, taxi usage consistently increased, rising with a steady annual growth of 0.1 and reaching 1.0 at the end.
