The table illustrates how many commuters (in millions) utilized five types of public transport in Milan between 2010 and 2014. It is clear that all modes of transportation experienced an upward trend in the number of passengers during the period. Meanwhile, the metro had the highest figure compared to other kinds of public transport. Conversely, taxis had the lowest figure over the period.
Specifically, the most common trend was a consistent increase in users across all modes of transportation. For instance, the figure for trains more than doubled from 1.4 to 3.6 million between 2010 and 2014. Likewise, the metro’s number rose nearly twofold from 3.0 in the initial year to 5.0 at the end of the period.
We can see also in buses, where the number showed an incline, despite experiencing a decline in the first two years, before growing continuously at 2.4 million in the final year. Meanwhile, trams and taxis increased just below 1 million, while the former rose to 2.2, the latter inclined to 1, jumping by 0.1 point each year.
