The statistics illustrates the information about healthcare spending in five different countries troughout 2002.
Overall, all countries spent on healthcare, but some countries spent much more than others. The highest percentages were recorded in USA, while the lowest figures were seen in Japan.
Looking first at total and public expenditure, the USA is highest recorded spending on health at 40%, including 17% from public. Germany followed with a total figure of 35%, of which 18% was public funded. France and Italy showed more moderate levels, witth total health spending at 30% and 25% respectively.
By contrast, private health spending was lower across the countries shown. The USA again ranked first in this category at 20%, while Germany reported similar figures of 15% and 12% of France respectively. However, the smallest percentages in other countries are the largest in Japan, the total spending is 20% and 10% of public. The lowest proportions of private expenditure were recorded in Italy and Japan, at 8% and just 5%.
