The table depicts the amount of waste production (in millions of tons) in six different countries namely; Ireland, Japan, Korea, Poland, Portugal, US over a twenty-year period.
As an overall trend, the amount of waste production in US was the highest in 2000 while the lowest amount of waste production was Portugal in 1980. There was an upward trend in the amount of Ireland, Japan, Poland, Portugal and US whereas the amount of Korea saw a contrasting pattern during the given period.
In 1980, the amount of waste production in US was 131 millions of tons which was roughly 100 higher than that of Japan. The amount of Poland and Portugal were respectively 4 and 2 millions of tons. The amount of waste production in Ireland was the lowest at 0.6 millions of tons.
The amount of waste production in US went up sharply by roughly 60 millions of tons from 1980 to 2000. During the same years, there was a minimal rise of barely over 20 millions of tons in Japan. The same period saw a slight decrease of about 10 millions of tons in Korea.
