The table chart provides data on the amount of production output in six various countries between 1980 and 2000. The figures are given in millions.
Overall, the total amount of waste production increased significantly over the 20-years period. By contrast, production of waste declined slightly. The most dramatic change was seen in the figures for the United States, an increase of around 61 million tonnes.
In 1980, three countries (Ireland, Poland and Portugal) were only about 0,6, 4 and 2 million, respectively. However, Japan and the United States were responsible for 28 and 131 million, respectively. In the same year, no data was given for Korea.
In 2005, while Ireland, Japan and Portugal rose gradually around 5, 6.6 and 5 million, Japan and the United States went up considerably by about 53 and 192 million, respectively. By 1980, the production of waste had decreased only in Korea, about 19 million.
