The table compares the average amount of school teachers’ wages in five different countries in the initial years of their career, after 15 years and the maximum salary throughout their working years in 2016. Overall, despite the shortest period, Australia headed the chart with the highest amount. While Denmark and Japan paid significant amount of money to teachers, the reverse was true for Belgium and Portugal, which paid the least.
Focusing first on high-paid countries, Australia exhibits 22.2 USD for the beginning of their job and this was followed by a dramatic increase to 69.6 USD after 15 years. Its maximum salary made up 77.1 USD, which took 19 years. As for Japan, starting salary comprised 38.3 USD, whereas after 15 years it grew to 55 USD. The highest income throughout teachers’ working years was 68.1 USD, maintaining its runner-up position and it was achieved in 27 years. Lastly, Denmark shows 31.7 USD for the initial phase, before experiencing a significant improvement to 58.1 after one and half a decade. Also, the maximum wage for teacher accounted for 63.3 USD, taking 30 years to achieve it.
Turning to remaining countries: Portugal and Belgium, the former paid 17.1 USD at the beginning their career and increased this amount to 23.9 after 15 years, and 22 years passed until achieving the maximum salary of 32.4 USD. Finally, the latter bottomed the diagram with a mere 15.1 USD. Then, it witnessed marginal growth to 27.5 USD, while the maximal salary was 35 USD after 25 years.
