The table demonstrates the average number of medals won by top ten countries which were ranked by gold medals in 2012 London Olympics Games.
Overall, the USA had the highest number of medals compared to other countries. While, Australia had the least gold medals and Hungary had lower number of silver and bronze medals.
In terms of United States, the country had bagged total of 104 medals with highest number of golds with 45 medals, both silver and bronze with 29 medals respectively. Following China with second position, where it won 38 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 23 bronze medals which become in total of 88 medals. South Korea was in 5th position with total of 28 medals.UK and Russia were in 3rd and 4th positions with 65 and 82 medals. However, Russia won more bronze medals. Although Russia won more medals than the UK, they were in 4th position because the UK participants won more gold medals which seem to have better points than silver and bronze medals to be in the top position.
On the other hand, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary and Australia were with less than 50 medal each. The least gold medal- winning country was Australia and they were in 10th position of the list.
