Table presents the distribution of gold, silver and bronze medals among the most awarded countries at Olympic Games held in London in year 2012.
Overall, United States led the table by winning the most number of medals from each type, while Australia remaining at the last position of the top ten table with the least number of gold medals.
In order to win the first place at 2012 Olympics, United States athletes managed to collect 104 medals out of which 46 were gold medals followed by 29 medals each from other two types. The second highest medal winner was China with 38 Gold medal wins. The third position of the top ten list was grabbed by the Great Britain with 65 medals in total with recorded 29 first places to obtain gold medals. However, the last three positions were obtained by Italy, Hungary and Australia with 28, 17 and 35 medals respectively. It is noticeable that, despite of winning 7 more medals in total (35) than Italy (28), Australia held the last position as they were short of one gold medal compared to Italy who won 8 gold medals.
