The title chart shows the number of visitors (in millions) to four different museums – Air and Space, Natural History, American History, and American Indian – in the USA in 2005, 2010, and 2015, along with the percentages between these years.
Looking overall perspective, it can be seen that all museums experienced a rise in visitors between 2005 and 2010, except for the American Indian museum, which saw a significant decline. However, between 2010 and 2015, visitors numbers dropped for all four museums.
To begin with, in 2005, the Air and Space museum had the highest number of visitors at 6.7 million, rising by 36% to 8.3 million in 2010, but then falling to 6.2 million in 2015 (a 25% decrease).
Similarly, the Natural History museum rose from 5.6 million to 8 million in 2010, then dropped to 6.2 million in 2015.
Furthermore, the American History museum had the most noticeable increase from 3 million in 2005 to 8 million in 2010 (a sixfold increase) before declining to 3.6 million in 2015. On the other hand, the American Indian museum experienced a major decline in visitors, from 2.2 million in 2005 to 2.3 million in 2010, then further down to 1.1 million in 2015.
