Overall, it is clear that reading and playing were the most common activities in both rural and urban areas in 1990, and maintained their position by 2010. Photography, on the other hand, recorded the lowest proportion of adults in urban area in 1990, whereas the lowest proportion of adults participated in animated plays in 1990 in urban area.
To begin with, the percentage of adults who took part in reading session in urban area in 1990 accounted for approximately 61% and the figure rose to 78% in 2010. Similarly, the proportion of adults in rural area stood at 71% in 1990, and the percentage of readers reached to 78% in 2010, which was its peak level. As for animated plays, the proportion of adults represented 10% in both 1990 and 2010, however adults in rural areas experienced a downward trend, declining from 18% in 1990 to 14% in 2010.
Turning to the other activities, about 21% of adults in urban area participated in playing in 1990, the figure, however decreased to 14% in 2010. In rural area, participation rate in terms of playing stood at 26% in given years. Although photography had the smallest proportion of adults in both urban and rural categories, showing 7% and 14%, respectively in 1990, the figures rose noticeably to 17% and 24%, respectively in 2010, demonstrating an upward trend.
