Overall, reading was the most popular activity in both years, while animated play and photography sections were the least popular. By 2010, in both urban and rural reading became the most common activity. In contrast playing and animated play had remained the least common among urban adults. It is also clear that photography increased significantly.
In 1990, by far the highest percentages of participation of urban and rural adults was reading with 61% for urban and 71%for rural. In 2010 the proportion of urban adults was equal to that of their rural counterparts.
Regarding playing, 21% of urban adults participated in 1990, compared with 26% of rural adults. By 2010, the urban figure decreased by half to 14%, whereas the rural percentage stayed unchanged at 26%. Finally, photography rose considerably in both areas, from 7% to 17% among urban adults and from 14% to 24% among rural adults.
